Hello! Thank you for taking time to stop by my website! I am Cassandra: an opera singer, voice teacher, mother, arts lover and yogi. My playlists are always shuffling. I like my coffee strong and performances bold.
I received my Bachelor’s (2008) and Master’s (2012) degrees from the University of Northern Iowa in Voice Performance. After graduating in 2012, I moved up to Minneapolis, Minnesota with my family. Since graduating from college, I have been on a journey of transformation, turning my education and personal passion for music into my professional career.
I launched Mockingbird Studio of Voice and started auditioning for opera companies in the Twin Cities. I quit my day job and started teaching and performing full time in 2014. I joined up with Chanson Voice & Music Academy in 2015, teaching voice and being active on the board of directors. My performance schedule quadrupled in size right along with my voice studio roster. It was a pretty fantastic year!
I am currently teaching out of Sarah Jane’s Music School in hip-and-chic Northeast Minneapolis. Mockingbird Studio of Voice is thriving, and my hands are full with exciting new endeavors, the newest of which is co-founding and co-directing the Lyrebird Choral Program, where I lead two ensembles spanning 6-12 grades.
Along with all this excitement comes real life, though. It’s a balancing act, and some days I am teetering right on the edge. I am a mother, a performer and a teacher. Life is fast-paced. Life is busy. Life is happening all around me. I’m right in the middle of it all, and it is frighteningly amazing!
